Parvez Ahmed: During my school and university years, I would describe myself as an average student—fair, but nothing extraordinary. My early educational journey was, in hindsight, uneventful. However, I was deeply passionate about fashion, which led me to explore pattern-making and dress designing to better understand the technical intricacies of apparel manufacturing.
When I entered the workforce, I quickly realized the importance of adapting to change and staying ahead by continuously enhancing my skills. This sparked a profound thirst for knowledge. I immersed myself in reading everything from novels and articles to technical manuals and daily newspapers, finding joy in the diversity of content and perspectives.
Over the years, I pursued various courses to refine my professional management skills, with a particular fascination for Quality Management in Apparel Product Development. This passion culminated in earning a Master’s degree in Quality Management and membership in the American Society for Quality (ASQ).
Numbers have always intrigued me, and Microsoft Excel became an essential tool throughout my career. To fuel this interest, I completed courses in data analysis and visualization, further honing my expertise.
My learning journey continues to this day. I am proud to hold certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional), ISO 9001 Internal Auditor, and Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (LSSBB). My career has been an incredible journey of passion, growth, and self-discovery. Spanning over three decades in the corporate fashion industry, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside some of the most brilliant creative minds in the field. Each collaboration, each individual, has left an indelible mark on me, teaching me valuable lessons about the delicate balance between creativity and strategy.
As a fashion consultant, I strive to bring those learnings to life by helping emerging brands transform their visions into reality. My approach is to stay true to their essence and core beliefs while guiding them through the complexities of ever-evolving trends. It’s deeply fulfilling to see ideas take shape and resonate with audiences.
Creativity, I believe, is the lifeblood of our family. My wife is a gifted bridal fashion designer, my elder daughter channels her artistry into interior and graphic design, and my younger daughter is an established artist with a long list of national and international awards. Their talent and passion have undeniably influenced me, as my involvement in their projects from time to time has sparked and deepened my own appreciation for art and design.
Writing, however, has been my personal sanctuary—a passion that took root early in life. Parvez Ahmed: My father was an exceptionally intellectual individual whose constant encouragement instilled in me a love for reading from a very young age. His influence ignited my curiosity and fueled my passion for exploring stories and how they unfold, scene by scene, layer by layer. Over time, this fascination evolved into a habit of documenting my own experiences and interactions with people. What began as a personal collection of reflections and observations eventually grew into a substantial archive of content.
At the insistence of my daughters, who believed in the value of these stories, I took the leap to transform my writings into published works. Early last year, I released my first two books: The Sound of Silence and Shredding Sentiments. The former is a heartfelt collection of poems, while the latter comprises poignant short stories. Both delve into deeply relatable emotions and themes, resonating with readers on a personal level. Shredding Sentiments, in particular, has garnered significant popularity in certain regions, and hearing readers’ interpretations has been incredibly rewarding.
My next book, Memoirs of a Jobseeker, captures an especially challenging phase of my life. As the title suggests, it chronicles my emotional and professional journey during that period, offering readers not just a narrative but also guidance and solidarity for anyone navigating a similar crossroads.
Most recently, I launched Behind the Fashionable Drapes, a book that provides an insider’s perspective on the fashion industry. It takes readers on a behind-the-scenes journey, covering the intricate processes from design initiation to product launch, illuminating the lesser-seen world of apparel development.
