Vladimir Putin is one of the most powerful persons in the world in the present scenario. Vladimir Putin was born in 1952 in Leningrad, U.S.S.R which is now known as St. Peterburg, Russia. Putin has served 15 years of his life in the KGB. At present Vladimir Putin is the president of Russia and is the second longest-serving president after Alexander Lukashenko.

Putin was first time elected as the Russian president in the year 1999 to 2000 after which he was again elected as the Russian president from 2008 to 2012.

Early Life of Vladimir Putin

Russian President Vladimir Putin was born on 07 October 1952 in Leningrad, Russia, USSR. Vladimir Spiridonovich Putin was the father and Maria Ivanovna Putina was the mother of Vladimir Putin. He was the youngest child in the 3 children of the family. His father was a conscript in the Soviet Navy while his mother was a factory worker. His father took part in the destruction battalion of the NKVD in early World War II. Later in 1942, he got really wounded in a war attack.

Putin in an interview mentioned, I belong to a very ordinary and decent family. He mentioned that he has lived a very decent life for a very long time. We have a very simple living while having cutlets, cabbage soup, and pancakes, also on Sundays, my mother used to have delicious stuffed buns, meat, rice, and other delicious stuff.

He completed his primary education at School No. 193 in Leningrad in 1960-68 and after eighth-grade education, he got into school no. 281. He completed his graduation level education by 1975 and his thesis was “The Most Favored Nation Trading Principle in International Law”. Later he joined the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.

Vladimir Putin: Early Career

As a professional, Putin has a working experience of 15 years as a foreign intelligence officer for the KGB (Committee for State Security), out of which six years were in Dresden, East Germany. He took retirement from the KGB in 1990 at the rank of lieutenant colonel and on returning to Russia he joined the Leningrad State University and became its protector and took responsibility for the institution’s external relations.

Later, Putin joined the first democratically elected mayor of St. Petersburg, Sobchak. Putin with his skills for getting things done easily earned the confidence of Sobchak in a very few time. In 1994, he became the first deputy mayor.

In 1996, Putin moved to Moscow and joined the presidential staff as the profile of a deputy to Pavel Borodin, the chief administrator of the Kremlin. Later by gaining the trust and belief of Leningrader Anatoly Chubais, he managed to get early access to administrative positions.

In the year 1998, President Boris Yeltsin made Putin the director of the Federal Security Service. In 1999, Putin became the Prime Minister of Russia with the support of Boris Yeltsin. 

The virtual ratings of Putin increased gradually when he launched a military attack against secessionist rebels in Chechnya. The Russian public appreciated the coolness of Putin in the attack.
